Scorpyd Ventilator – Fully Reconditioned

Approximately 435 FPS with a 400-Grain Arrow

The Scorpyd Ventilator was years ahead of its time. Its reverse-draw configuration and long power stroke produced exceptional speed while maintaining the balance and smooth shooting characteristics that made Scorpyd crossbows so highly regarded.

This Ventilator has been completely rebuilt and updated by Arrow Guru. It should not be compared only with the specifications of an original factory Ventilator. The earlier Gen 3 power components and folding stock have been replaced with new Gen 5 cams, new 201-deflection limbs, and the later fixed, crank-capable stock.

The bow will shoot approximately 435 FPS with a 400-grain arrow, producing approximately 168 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. This is genuine performance with a full 400-grain arrow, placing the bow in the same speed class as a similarly configured Orion or Aculeus.

Although some newer crossbows are narrower or advertise higher maximum speeds, the Ventilator remains difficult to beat as a complete hunting platform. Its combination of speed, balance, smoothness, reliability, and proven Scorpyd construction continues to compare favorably with many current premium crossbows.

The 8.2-pound listed weight is the weight of the bow as pictured with the Firenock AeroCrank installed. The AeroCrank adds approximately one pound to the overall weight.

The approximately 175-pound draw weight has not been independently measured. It is an estimate based on the bow having the same 201-deflection limbs, later-generation cam profile, power geometry, string and cable configuration, timing, axle-to-axle measurement, and approximately 435-FPS performance as the Orion Extreme.

Reconditioning and Testing

This crossbow has been completely gone through, rebuilt, timed, chronographed, and function-tested by Arrow Guru. It is not being offered as an unknown or as-is used Scorpyd.

Scorpyd Platform History

The Ventilator, Orion, and Aculeus are closely related members of the same Scorpyd reverse-draw family. They share the same general power geometry and approximately 18½-inch power stroke.

When the same limbs, cam profile, string and cable configuration, timing, and axle-to-axle measurement are used, the three models produce essentially the same speed.

The original Ventilator used Gen 3 cams and a folding stock. This bow has been updated with Gen 5 cams and the later fixed, crank-capable stock. It retains the Ventilator’s original two-screw stirrup arrangement, compared with the Orion’s three-screw stirrup.

Otherwise, when both bows are equipped with the same stock and power components, the Ventilator and Orion are essentially the same bow from a performance standpoint.

In Arrow Guru’s experience, the Gen 5 through Gen 7 cams share the same basic speed-producing cam shape. When installed with 201-deflection limbs, a 46-inch string, 18 7/8 inch cables, approximately ?-inch cam timing, and an uncocked axle-to-axle measurement of approximately 19½ inches, they produce essentially the same performance.

The Aculeus was developed from the Orion platform. Its primary advancement was the updated Sear-Loc trigger and preventive anti-dry-fire system. This improved trigger and safety operation, but it did not create a faster power system.

The more substantial Scorpyd platform changes came later with the Nemesis and Tremor. The Deathstalker’s principal advancement was reduced weight and a more compact hunting package rather than increased speed.

The model name on this bow is Ventilator. Its Gen 5 cams, 201-deflection limbs, setup, and actual chronograph performance place it in the same class as a similarly configured Orion or Aculeus.

This is a previously owned and fully reconditioned crossbow. Minor cosmetic marks consistent with normal use may be present. Please review the photographs for its exact cosmetic condition.
